Painshill is a restored 18th Century English park and landscape garden that was created by Charles Hamilton between 1738 - 1773 inspired by his Grand Tour of Europe. Charles aim was to create a series of 'scenes' that would evoke various moods and emotions drawing on romantic and picturesque styles. Painshill includes a variety of folly's such as the Gothic Temple and Crystal Grotto, each designed to enhance the visitors experience and create a sense of wonder.
