On a computer or laptop, do a Google search for your business and look for a panel of information on the right of your screen. If you see a link which says 'Own this business?' (link doesn't appear on mobile searches) you can follow a verification process to take ownership and directly control information and photos that appear here, in local search and map results.
Thankfully more businesses are becoming aware of this, but for those yet to do so, at best, you're not taking advantage of the opportunity to present useful information to your customers. At worst, this information is incorrect.
Google doesn't tell this to businesses directly so many are losing out on presenting the most appropriate and up-to-date information in areas of the web viewed far more than your website might be. This is unfair and it's the reason we give this tip out freely. Google's help pages are a good place to start if you don't know how to access the listing for editing despite no 'own this business' link or don't appear to have a Google Business listing at all.
