The new Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations, which replaced the previous Package Travel Regulations, came into force on the 1 July 2018.
They greatly expand the range and services that fall under the scope of the regulations and this could have significant implications for businesses that offer packaged products. Our partner, The Tourism Alliance, has been lobbying government officials hard to influence their interpretation of the regulations - in particular by arguing for the removal of businesses that sell two separate elements on the same premises from the scope of the regulations (i.e. hotels with restaurants and spas) and removing non-commercial arrangements from the definition of ‘Linked Travel Arrangements’. To help businesses get to grips with the new regulations, the Tourism Alliance has also released new guidance. Click here to view more
