The wait is almost over! From amongst the cream of the South East’s tourism businesses the finalists for the 2017/18 Beautiful South Tourism Awards have been chosen. This year saw a near record number of entries (143) from all parts of the region.
These were shortlisted from their entry forms and then, in most cases, mystery shopped by expert independent judges. Today 67 finalists were announced along with 18 businesses that were recognised with highly commended certificates and three very special individuals who are finalists in the ‘Customer Service Superstar’ category. All will be kept in suspense until the prestigious awards ceremony hosted by Heart FM presenter, Toby Anstis, at the Grand Hotel Brighton on the 29 November when they will learn whether they have won gold, silver or bronze.
Winners will be invited to represent the South East in the National VisitEngland Awards which take place early in 2018 where there are matching categories.
Nigel Smith, CEO of Tourism South East, said “The Beautiful South Awards are the highlight of the year for the South East’s visitor economy. They are a reminder of the amazing wealth of fantastic tourism businesses and experiences South East of England has to offer. This year the overall standard of entries was higher than ever making it extremely tough for the judges. Some very fine businesses narrowly missed the cut so the finalists truly are the best of the best.”
General Manager of the Grand Hotel Brighton, Andrew Mosley, said “ We are very much looking forward to welcoming the Tourism South East team and all the finalists to the awards ceremony next month. Again, we are delighted to be this year's title sponsor and it is a real privilege to be the host venue once again following the success of the 2015 ceremony. The event really shines a spotlight on the whole host of quality and successful hospitality businesses the South East has to offer and we are wishing all the finalists lots of luck on the night.”
