Near Europe Trade Campaign
The weakness of the pound has increased overseas visitors desire to visit England and as a result Tourism South East is strengthening its Near Europe marketing. Near Europe is divided into three separate campaigns targeting press, consumer and trade and Tourism South East works closely with VisitBritain and VisitEngland to understand the most profitable segments to target.
Regarding the trade campaign, over half the travel arrangements in Germany and France are made through travel agents or tour operators and Germany in particular has been identified as a strong growth prospect for the South East. A Travel Trade Audit has already been carried out to understand which operators are promoting the region and this campaign will allow us to maximise our impact.
Key Components/Distribution Channels of Campaign:
- German Trade Sales Mission in June 2010
- Familiarisation visit
- Entries in VisitBritain Trade Newsletters in Germany & France
- Representation at VisitBritain’s Travel! The Workshop
- Inclusion in all collateral prepared to support programme
- Attendance at ITB Berlin 2011 and follow up meetings with Tour Operator contacts
Target Audience: Trade operators in Germany and France.
Benefits to customer :
Cost effective representation to the Near European Trade market – ITB attracts over 179,000 visitors – 111,000 trade visitors. This is in addition to the 500 Trade and Association buyers that visit Travel! The Workshop and the exposure through newsletters and a fam visit.
The key benefit is the sales missions that our German Trade Consultant undertakes on a one-to-one basis with a number of trade operators in Germany as well as German operators based in London. Your product will be highlighted as a key feature of the South East region to these operators to encourage them to include / expand their operations within the South East region.
