Business Link is changing the way it works to support businesses.

Over the course of 2011 Business Link is ceasing to operate its regional centres and is ammending the advisory service to become on online and call centre based service.  From 25th November 2011, the Business Link website www.businesslink.gov.uk will become the government's primary channel for business support. Businesses which are experiencing difficulty accessing the site will be able to call the Business Link helpline on 0845 600 9 006.

What this means for the Business Link South East service is:

  • The face to face advisory service will close at the end of September.
  • The "Starting a Business" workshops will continue to the end of October.
  • The monthly online newsletters to customers will continue until the end of November.

The Business Link website contains useful tools and information which enables business to:

  • Pay and file PAYE and submit VAT returns
  • Identify government procurement opportunities via the free Contracts Finder service
  • Find potential sources of help via the Business Support Finder at www.businesslink.gov.uk/support and register for notification of new schemes by email

In addition, a special mentoring portal has been launched for businesses seeking a mentor or wanting to become a mentor, www.mentorsme.co.uk.

Organisations can continue to promote events on the Business Link website.  To register your interest call 0151 326 2102 or email eventsupport@adviserplus.com.

Further information on how BIS is changing the way it supports the business community can be found on the Government website.  Follow this link  to register to receive regular updates.
